‘Kujenga Pamoja’ celebrates Village’s 25th anniversary
The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia will commemorate its 25th anniversary with the Kujenga Pamoja (Together We Build) Community Arts Festival on Saturday, June 4th from 2:30-8pm at 2544 Germantown Avenue.
Among the festival’s honorees will be Village Founder, Lily Yeh, honored for her innovative methods of community building through artistic and cultural expression. Ms. Yeh will rededicate Eagles Youth Park – a playground and green space built by The Village and Eagles Youth Partnership – as a symbol of The Village’s continued commitment to creating safe spaces for children.
The festival will feature performing arts entertainment; spoken word by Village alumni and current Village students; a community parade; children’s arts activities; and a sacred Rites Of Passage ceremony during which youth and their families pledge to support each other in their goals.
All events are free and open to the public. To RSVP, go here.
