– HEAR YE, HEAR YE, VOLUNTEER YE! The Village is looking for volunteers for its 16th Annual Kujenga Pamoja Festival on Saturday, September 28, 2002 (Raindate on Sunday, September 29, 2002.) The celebration will begin with fun and artistic activities and games for families from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. The family-oriented activities will take place at multiple locations within the immediate neighborhood of the Village of Arts and Humanities. From 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Founder and Executive Director Lily Yeh will lead a procession with community residents and youth to bless the households in the four street Village heart area. A potluck dinner will follow the procession. At 7:30, participants will be led from the multiple sites to Ile Ife Park located at 2544 Germantown Avenue for the main event. This phenomenon will be performed in movement and song to mourn what we have lost, remember what is dear to us, heal what was wounded, and celebrate all that is in the present. We need volunteers to help with set-up, supervision of art activities and games, food service, decoration, and clean up. We can’t do this without you, so please contact Karen Conley at 215.225.0615 to get involved.
