KnowledgeWorks Foundation Begins 2nd Annual National Search for Excellent Schools
Deadline: June 24, 2005
The KnowledgeWorks Foundation (<a href="http://kwfdn.org/">http://kwfdn.org/</a>) has announced the beginning of its second annual Schools as Centers of Community: A National Search for Excellence. The program seeks schools across the United States to serve as "shining examples of schools that meet the needs of both students and the surrounding community."
The top-selected school will receive the Richard W. Riley Award for Excellence, which is named after former U.S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley. The winning school also receives a $5,000 grant. As part of the program, the selection panel chooses several exceptional schools with innovative elements and initiatives to be members of the "Schools as Centers of Community Honor Society" and to be showcased on the program’s Web site.
The National Search for Excellence is open to all existing public schools. Schools that are now in the process of being designed and developed can only be considered for "Schools as Centers of Community Honor Society" recognition.
Submissions for the 2005 competition will be accepted online at the program’s Web site. Visit the site for specific guidelines and nomination procedures.
