Job Title: K12 Science Trainer

Job Description:
K12 is implementing our classroom-ready K-3 Science program in Philadelphia. Key to the success of this implementation is the support in the field for the teachers using the product. A K12 Science trainer will support teachers of grades K-3 in the School District of Philadelphia’s elementary schools. A schedule for observations, demonstration lessons and professional development opportunities will be scheduled by each trainer.

Responsibilities:
. Coach teachers using the K12 Science product by conducting demonstration lessons, supporting them during the planning process, and observing them teach when asked.
. Create, schedule and conduct professional development activities for teachers as assigned or as deemed necessary by trainer.
. Communicate to K12 any comments on the usability of the product.
. Support the technology components of the lesson where appropriate.
. Collaborate with the Technology Specialist and Science coach for each region to meet the needs of the teachers.
. Maintain open communication with the building principals.
. Attend professional development and scheduled meetings for K12 Philadelphia staff.
. Participate in the evaluation of the program in cooperation with K12’s Evaluation and Research group.
. Identify key areas and methods of communication with teachers using the K12 product.
. Act as first line of customer support for Science materials.
. Act as an advocate for K12 at various Philadelphia events.

Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate
Experience with students in urban settings grades K-3
Personal competency in Science
Demonstrated ability to coach teachers
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Exceptional technology skills, including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, interactive whiteboard and Apple products
