Posted by PHENND on January 4, 2016
The next K-16 University Partners Meeting will be Wednesday, January 27 at 2:00-3:30 PM, at the School District of Philadelphia, 440 N. Broad St, Room 1072. This meeting will address early childhood literacy, one of the District’s stated top priorities. “Take aways” for this meeting will include obtaining information on READ! By 4th strategies and programs and discussing how university partners can support literacy initiatives in Philadelphia.
This is designed to be a more conversational meeting among university-based practitioners already involved in early literacy efforts. We will be joined by Jenny Bogoni, Executive Director, of the READ by 4th Campaign, as well as Abby Thaker, Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Who should attend?
-University faculty, staff and students who work with young children (pre-K through 4th grade)
-Non-profits and community programs focused on early literacy who are interested in partnerships with colleges and universities
-K-12 teachers, administrators and staff interested in community partnerships for early literacy
PHENND University Partner Meetings bring together university, nonprofit, and school-based practitioners around common themes.
Goals for this meeting will be to:
– map university involvement in existing activities in early literacy
– identify opportunities for expansion, replication, improvement
– touch on “lessons learned,” evaluation findings, and/or gaps in the knowledge base
– explore how the READ by 4th Campaign can support university partners and vice versa
