K-16 Partnerships June Institute: Partnerships for High School Success – Jun 1
Posted by PHENND on May 2, 2023
Join PHENND’s K-16 Partnership Network, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, as we explore ways in which school-based partners are providing support to high school students in this era of lingering effects of the pandemic, gun violence, political polarization and other external challenges. In what ways have students, schools and partners been affected by all that is going on? And what is some of the innovative and effective work partners are doing around college and career access, academic readiness and social/emotional supports in spite of additional challenges?
Thursday, June 1st
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
at the School District of Philadelphia
440 N. Broad Street
Keynote speaker: Sarah Hemminger, CEO & Co-founder, Thread
From the thread.org website: At the heart of our community are young people, exceptional individuals in extraordinary situations. Thread makes a ten-year commitment to them, beginning in 9th grade. Our young people are paired with family member volunteers who commit for one year and work together as a team to support them as they work towards self-sufficiency. Everyone in Thread has a coach who consistently “has your back,” and supports your personal journey. We know that enduring, authentic relationships change lives. Together, we are weaving a new social fabric.
Bring materials about your program to share on our resource tables. Information on additional speakers and presenters will be updated as they are confirmed.
