K-16 Partnership Network Fall Speaker: Marty Blank, Coalition for Community Schools
Thursday, October 25, 4-6:00 PM
Location: School District of Philadelphia, 440 N. Broad St, auditorium
At this important time of transition in the School District of Philadelphia, Coalition for Community Schools Executive Director Marty Blank will discuss the community schools model and how colleges and universities can support this model in Philadelphia. A community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Community schools offer a personalized curriculum that emphasizes real-world learning and community problem-solving. Schools become centers of the community and are open to everyone – all day, every day, evenings and weekends.
Karyn Lynch, Chief of Student Services for the School District of Philadelphia, will give a response.
