K-12 Gallery Educator (Part Time)

Gallery Art Educator: 30hr/wk ($18-20/hr) Entry level K-12 position teaching art-infused lessons in Philadelphia classrooms and Barnes art galleries to classes of students from Philadelphia and Camden.
The Gallery Educator is a member of the School Programs team that provides in-person and online programming for PreK12 students and teachers about the Barnes Foundation’s collections and special exhibitions. The School Programs team creates interactive lessons grounded in the Barnes Foundation’s objective method incorporating inquiry-based learning, Universal Design for Learning, trauma-aware, and anti-racist teaching strategies. Gallery Educators use developmentally appropriate teaching strategies and best practices in museum education to facilitate in-person lessons in the Barnes galleries, and co-host [45min weekly] virtual programs for PreK-12 students. They also assist with scheduling school groups who visit the Barnes Foundation. This role requires staff who work well both independently and as part of a team; who possess outstanding organizational and written/verbal communication skills; who work accurately, with close attention to detail; and who demonstrate flexibility, creativity, dependability, and punctuality. This is a 10-month position, working 30 hours per week from September- June annually.
