Juntos Rapid Response Team Training – Nov 17
Posted by Juntos on November 17, 2020
Today, amidst shifts at the national level, we celebrate the black and brown leadership that brought us to this moment, that highlighted the radical joy in Philadelphia over the last week as we waited for the votes to be counted, and that continues to organize locally and nationally for a world without state violence, criminalization, detention, or borders.
At Juntos we launched our “Mes de Resistencia” a month of programming for our members and allies that focuses on highlighting local movements and building community power. Our activities helped us secure healing and build community in a time of uprising and uncertainty, ranging from everything from community meetings around the election and the fight against disinformation to the completion of a new series of member-led community resistance trainings in response to threats of raids in our city. As a community we created art grounded in our cultural traditions, continued to ensure hundreds of families received mutual aid, and joined local fights for drivers licenses and safe school reopenings, and continued to build a network of allies ready to show up for our community.
As we enter the last phase of the month, we are excited to announce a new member-led training program called “Semillas de Solidaridad” which will train lead members and our larger base on how to de-escalate and effectively combat anti-blackness in the Latinx community.
Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on upcoming events!! Today, and everyday, we commit to joyfully celebrating our community and fighting for communities.
Call to allies: Show up for your neighbors with Juntos!
On Tuesday, November 17, at 6 PM we will be holding new trainings for allies to join our Rapid Response Network. The workshops will build community security by training allies to be able to record ICE in our communities and better support our neighbors. If you are interested in joining, please sign up here.
