Juneteenth in Philadelphia from the Free Library
Posted by Free Library of Philadelphia on June 6, 2023
In 2021, we celebrated Juneteenth as a national holiday for the first time! On Thursday, June 17, 2021, Congress passed and presented the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act to President Joe Biden, who signed the bill into law.
The Free Library is proud to mark this occasion by honoring Juneteenth’s history, offering events and programs, and sharing book lists for children and adults.
