Position: Program Coordinator
Reports to: Program Director
Overall responsibility: Assist in the organization and facilitation of NID1s service learning framework in selected classrooms throughout the city. Work with Program Director to support the classroom process and to deliver professional development services.
Specific areas of responsibility:
? In conjunction with the Program Director, schedule and facilitate classroom visits, maintain close contact with teachers throughout academic year, and work with them to develop service learning plans for their classes
? Maintain and update records on program activities, including relevant student work
? Make recommendations for program revisions (with regard to both classroom and professional development needs) and stay current with service learning literature and trends.
? Work with NID staff to identify/solicit guest speakers and to develop/research ideas for field trips and service learning projects
? Work with NID staff to plan professional development curriculum and to facilitate professional development sessions, as necessary
? Develop and cultivate relationships with current and potential community partners
? Order and maintain program supplies
Desirable characteristics and areas of expertise:
? Excellent interpersonal skills: able to interact over phone and in person with various NID constituents, including students (primarily elementary and middle school grades), teachers, administrators and community partners
? Self-motivated; able to see tasks/projects through from start to finish; attention to detail is high priority
? Organized; able to stay current with variable classroom status/needs and maintain relevant records
? Pro-active; able to anticipate tasks/needs and plan accordingly
? Strong verbal communications and presentation skills: able to promote organization and its capabilities and to communicate essential information in timely matter to NID staff
? Good written communications; able to compose basic letters, documents and reports
? Computer literate; familiarity with Macs, Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro (data bases, spread sheets, etc.)
? Desirable background could include: education/classroom experience; youth development/program development/management; knowledge of city1s human services/non-profit/ community networks
a full time job that pays in a range between $28,000 and $34,000 depending on experience. Candidates are asked to send a cover letter and resume to Need in Deed.
