Growing Food and Justice for All
A National Initiative

PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR NETWORKS… THIS IS AN OPEN INVITATION! THANKS….

August 6, 2007

You are invited to join a new multicultural initiative aimed at dismantling racism and empowering low-income and communities of color through sustainable and local agriculture.

Growing Power, Inc., a non-profit organization and land trust supporting the creation of food-secure communities, is hosting a teleconference on August 27 and corresponding gathering on September 15-16 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin following the USDA-RMA Outreach Conference (http://www.growingpower.org for more info) to launch this initiative.

You don?t have to be directly involved in sustainable agriculture or food security work to participate in the network. We are inviting you to join because of your exceptional leadership and your vision for our communities, local and global. We want you to come away with the physical and spiritual tools, material and non-material resources that you need to elevate your work to another level.

We also want you to acquire the training and special tools needed to begin dismantling racism in the work that you do. This is a belated aspect of social justice work that we must develop if truly multicultural leadership is to develop.

Please refer to the steering document attached that contains a set of core principals, mission and vision for GFJA. We hope to have your feedback and your participation in the August 27 teleconference and September gathering.

Sincerely,
Will Allen, Growing Power, Inc.
