Associated Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired
Summer 2005

1) Research oriented project:
a. Administer survey questionnaires in person and by phone to ASB clients (including collating, analyzing, and presenting results.)
b. Conduct focus groups among clients and potential clients to determine needs, preferences, and satisfaction with services.
c. Conduct general research (determining number of blind and visually impaired individuals in our region, etc.)

2) Outreach
a. Contact organizations and agencies that may have contact with potential clients (including senior centers, government agencies, medical providers, churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, civic organizations, etc.) via phone with mail follow up.
b. Make in person presentation of ASB services to groups of individuals and to leaders of organizations.

3) Resources
a. Update current resource manual
b. Develop new resources to include: using internet research, phone calls, reading through resources, etc.
c. Build database of resources developed.

4) Plan and execute client event (picnic or party for blind and visually impaired persons) to occur in August.
a. Plan even
b. Solicit donations of food, decorations, token gifts, space to hold event, DJ, etc.
c. Secure volunteers to help on day of event.
d. Oversee event, ensuring food is served, clients can find bathrooms, etc.

5) Assist visually impaired staff handling records, etc.
a. Assist with client records
b. Under the direct supervision of a visually impaired staff member, assist with the provision of direct services to ASB clients.
c. Contact various schools and organizations to let them know about internship opportunities, etc. at ASB. (Set up system to track this.)
