Internship Opportunity for Black and Brown High School Youth
Posted by Swarthmore College on June 3, 2019
Dr. Edwin Mayorga of Swarthmore College is director of the Education in our Barrios project (#BarrioEdProject), a collaborative of Swarthmore College students, Dr. Mayorga, and most importantly Black and Brown youth of color in Philadelphia. They are dedicated to nurturing healing (emotional, physical, mental, spiritual) through knowledge of self and the world. An internship for youth of color in Philadelphia, based out of Swarthmore College, is set to begin in a few weeks.
For the 8 to 10 high school aged youth in the program, this is a year-long internship that begins with a summer institute that begins on June 20th. During the Summer Institute we discuss social issues, encourage healthy emotional growth, develop critical thinking and communication skills, build community together, and speak with inspiring community members (amongst other things).
