Opportunities in a successful and innovative Philadelphia charter school
Mastery Charter High School is a five-year old public charter high school in Center City Philadelphia that was created to prepare underserved students for the 21st century society. We are currently seeking an Internship Coordinator for our high school.
Internship Coordinator: This is both an administrative and a teaching position responsible for the instruction and operation of our school?s internship program. This program is a graduation requirement whereby students are trained, placed and supported in unpaid internships at companies of interest around Philadelphia. Both the pre-internship training and the placement practicum are taught by the Internship Coordinator. The training seminar prepares students to make the shift from the school-culture they are familiar with to the real world expectations of professional workplaces. The students take the practicum class once a week in conjunction with their internship and it serves to deepen their learning and support in the work experience.
The Internship Coordinator is also responsible for the overall administration of the program, including marketing and outreach, solidifying mentors, managing relationships with check-ins, event planning and trainings, program evaluation, budget management and necessary clerical duties to keep the program organized and connected to the community. Curriculum development and documentation are also involved.
Requirements: Ideal candidates have teaching, program management and business experience. Past work in career development or workplace training is a plus. A background in classroom teaching in an urban setting is preferred. All candidates must be able to navigate both a school environment and the diverse cultures of both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Candidates must be highly organized and able to manage relationships with large numbers of companies and individuals. Access to a vehicle is helpful, but not necessary.
Excellent pay, benefits and bonuses.
6 month position with possibility for a permanent position.
We are interviewing immediately.
