Instructor, Summer Mural Academy
Mural Academy is a 6 week summer program running from early July to mid-August. Exact dates to be announced. It is run in partnership with the Mural Arts Prograrm and the School District of Philadelphia.
Responsibilities
*Co-teach a class of 20 youth
*Develop lesson plans in collaboration with a school district art teacher
*Guide students in creating individual art pieces and a small scale mural
*Guide students in a small research and writing project
*Manage paperwork requirements from Mural Arts Program, the School District of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Youth Network including lesson plans, weekly reports, payroll, and other requirements.
*Attend staff and instructor meetings and mural design meetings
*Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
*Strong leadership skills
*Mural design and painting experience
*Degree in art or art education preferred
*Have prior teaching experience
*Ability to manage a classroom of 20 students
*Committed to working with city youth
*Strong organizational skills
