Lead Teacher – Special Education
So Love Autistic Center – Drexel Hill, PA

Our Instructional Aides serve an integral role in delivery of interventions and educational goals provided by Special Education Instructors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education/ Special Education preferred * High School (with CDA ONLY) * Previous experience working with developmental disabilities and autism early learners required * A minimum of 2 years’ experience in early intervention or early childhood education

PRIMARY FUNCTION Provide direct care and therapeutic support preschool children with autism in a center based program.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervise students to ensure safety * Interact with students in nurturing and respectful way * Understand and interpret a student’s communicative intent and respond to it by intervening based on the child’s communication * Initiate and maintain a shared experience with a student * Maintain effectiveness in response to various situational demands * Provide breaks for Special Education Instructors * Set-up and clean-up including meals, sensory and art materials * Prepare sensory and visual support activities in collaboration with visual support staff * Request necessary supplies * Other duties as assigned by supervisors or Executive Director Required experience: * Early Childhood Education, autism, early intervention: 2 years

Required education:

Associate in Early Childhood Education or 3 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education as Lead Teacher Only

Required experience:

Special Education, Early Childhood Education: 2 years
Autism, PCA: 1 year
