The Fairmount Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust, seeks an experienced, results-oriented development professional to serve as Institutional Giving Manager.
This full time position will be hired by and housed at the Fairmount Park Conservancy but will divide time between the Conservancy (24 hours/week) and the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust (16 hours/week) and will manage each organization’s institutional fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development of the Fairmount Park Conservancy, he/she will work in conjunction with the Executive Directors of both organizations.
The mission of the Fairmount Park Conservancy is to lead and support efforts which preserve and improve the Fairmount Park system in order to enhance the quality of life and stimulate the economic development of the Greater Philadelphia Region. We develop and spearhead signature capital projects throughout the Fairmount Park system and create and support innovative programs around park stewardship, civic initiatives, and environmental education. We also steward the brand of the Fairmount Park system, helping it to garner greater Philadelphia Parks & Recreation support.
The mission of the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust is to preserve the historic resources of Fairmount Park by providing investment opportunities for vacant and underutilized park properties through the implementation of long-term leases and identification of public/private organizations able to invest in the restoration and maintenance of the structures. We also offer an architectural conservation program to assist the stewards of historic sites with the challenges of maintaining historic structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, write, edit, and submit clear and compelling funding requests to new and existing funding sources
Manage follow-up for outstanding funding requests
Maintain the grants calendar
Conduct targeted research on funding opportunities and prepare prospect lists and research profiles evaluating alignment potential with private and public sector funds with organizational objectives
Develop case statements, reports, promotional materials, presentations and other written materials in support of the organization and its signature projects
Weekly time allocation between the two organizations
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum three years grants management experience, including prospect research, proposal and report writing, with a proven track record of success
Superior writing and self-editing skills
Ability to set priorities, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail and deadlines
Strong research, analytic and organizational skills with sensitivity to confidential information
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial and communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency with the Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office suite
Bachelor’s Degree
Familiarity with parks, environment, urban and/or community development, historic preservation, fields a plus
Compensation commensurate with experience
