National League of Cities Institute for Youth, Education and Families Offers New Audioconference Series

City leaders can now register for one or more free audioconferences that will be held between now and March 2010.  The popular audioconference series sponsored by NLC’s Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (YEF) features interactive, “talk-show” style discussions between top national experts, city officials who have developed innovative local programs, YEF Institute staff, and listeners.

Thurs., Oct. 22, 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time:  Opening Doors: New Municipal Strategies to Put College Education Within Reach

Thurs., Nov. 19, 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time: The Road Home: City Strategies to Support Homeless Youth
Thurs., Dec. 17, 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time: Health Care Reform: How New Federal Policies Will Impact Your Citys Children and Families
Thurs., Jan. 21, 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time: “New Ideas for Promoting a Local Asset-Building Agenda at Tax Time”
Thurs., Feb. 18, 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time: Curbing Childhood Obesity: Lessons from the Six-City Community Wellness Project
Thurs., March 25, 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time: Using Out-of-School Time Programs for Older Youth to Improve College Access and Workforce Development”

Based on listener feedback, these calls will include more time for listener questions, and several may be offered as webinars.  If you have questions about the audioconferences, please contact Michael Karpman at (202) 626-3072 or karpman@nlc.org.  No phone registrations can be accepted.  One day prior to the call, each registrant will receive an email providing a toll-free, dial-in number to use in joining the audioconference.
