Philadelphia, Pa. (Jan 29, 2004) — BuildaBridge International announces its third annual Institute for the Church and Community Arts (ICCA). ICCA is an annual six-day residency-based institute that will take place May 18-23 in Philadelphia. With a particular focus on at-risk communities, ICCA serves society at-large by training artists, church and community workers, and educators to integrate the arts in their service to society.
This year?s Institute will focus on the practical skills necessary for using the arts in a transforming process. ICCA?s courses will include: creating a transformational organization, drama for transformation, creating a safe environment, urban youth culture, writing arts integrated curriculum, and a special round-table dialogue on spirituality, youth and foster care. Site visits are planned daily.
Each class is a full day with meals provided. Undergraduate, graduate, and ACT 48 teacher certification credits are obtainable through Eastern University. A certificate is offered through Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Cost for the full week of classes is $350, or $100 a day. Low-cost housing is also available.
