Out-of-School Time Resource Center (OSTRC) ISEOST Symposium
Philadelphia, PA
June 1, 2006.
Symposium Content
The ISEOST Symposium will host 100 informal science education (ISE) and out-of-school time (OST) administrative staff from the Philadelphia area and other regions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland. Co-sponsored by the OSTRC, the Philadelphia Zoo, EducationWorks, and Branch Associates, the Symposium will:
– Explore resources, challenges, and opportunities within and among ISE and OST professional development strategies.
– Introduce a reciprocal model of ISE/OST professional development and begin efforts to refine and implement the model.
– Inspire ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the fields.
The ISEOST Symposium will include a keynote address, two panel discussions, a presentation of the professional development model, and three break-out sessions. For a history of the project, the day’s agenda, presenter biographies, and related details, visit the Symposium website at: http://www.sp2.upenn.edu/iseost/index.html.
Symposium Logistics
To register for the symposium, visit http://www.sp2.upenn.edu/iseost/index.html, select Registration, type in iseost, and follow the registration directions. In two weeks I will send a registration reminder, after which we will invite additional individuals, if space remains. Please register as soon as possible, as we will close registration after the first 100 registrants.
Please note that this invitation is not transferable. If there is someone in your organization you would like to send in your place, contact me directly (do NOT have them register directly, as their registration will be invalid).
The ISEOST symposium is free of charge. Although we cannot cover the cost of travel or overnight accommodations, travel and hotel information is included on the Symposium website.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional details or information. Thank you for your interest in this exciting opportunity and your commitment to informal education among children and youth.
