Independent Sector Invites Applications for American Express NGen Fellows Program
Deadline: February 21, 2011
Independent Sector introduced the American Express NGen (Next Generation) Fellows Program in 2009 to honor and connect twelve under-forty leaders at IS member organizations.
The American Express NGen Fellows program is designed to provide emerging nonprofit leaders with an exceptional opportunity to strengthen their capacity for future impact. Over the course of the nine-month program, fellows collaborate with other talented under-forty leaders, interact with established mentors, and contribute to IS’s work on nonprofit impact and leadership.
The fellowship will run from July 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012. Through three in-person events and online collaboration, fellows will participate in leadership development programming and collaborative work on a group project. At the center of the program’s in-person and online opportunities for learning and networking will be a group project that advances fellows’ personal leadership skills, offers opportunities for substantive collaboration with peers, and engages emerging nonprofit and philanthropic leaders in identifying and addressing sector-wide issues. During their fellowship, selected fellows will work together to create and implement this project, using it as a laboratory for ongoing reflection and learning as well as an opportunity to influence key issues for the nonprofit community.
American Express NGen Fellows will receive free registration for and lodging at the 2011 IS Annual Conference in Chicago.
Fellows will have special opportunities for interaction with IS’s key leaders and partners before, during, and after the conference, and will be recognized at the John Gardner Leadership Dinner.
For complete program information and application guidelines, or to nominate an outstanding under-40 leader for the program, visit the Independent Sector Web site.
