Immigration Stories: A Passover-Inspired Shabbat
Posted by Repair the World on March 19, 2018
Join Repair the World and HIAS Pennsylvania for a delicious, meaningful, interfaith Shabbat dinner catered by Hanadi’s Syrian Kitchen! Inspired by the Passover story, we will explore past and present immigration stories in varying faith traditions, and hear from local advocates doing important immigration and refugee resettlement work in Philadelphia. Come, break bread, and engage in sharing the immigration stories that have most impacted you in your family, faith tradition, and culture. We are excited to hear from the Executive Director of HIAS PA, Cathryn Miller-Wilson, about incredible work that HIAS does, and to learn how we, as community members, can promote and assist the mission of immigration support organizations!
Friday, March 23
6:30pm – 9:00pm
We are requesting that attendees help out our friends at Nationalities Service Center, NSC by bringing items that can be put into children’s activity bags–i.e. coloring books, toys, crayons, fruit snacks, etc.
HIAS will be selling pins at this event to benefit legal services for DACA recipients and other immigrants in need of legal support! Suggested donation of $3, pins will be sold before sundown (from 6:30-7pm).
