Hybrid Event: Reducing Racial Inequality in the Criminal Legal System – Jul 11
Posted by Urban Institute on July 11, 2023
Join the Urban Institute and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) for a candid conversation about how to tackle racial inequality and public safety. The discussion will bring together the Urban Institute’s John M. Eason and Kimberlyn Leary in conversation with Bruce Western, professor of sociology and social justice at Columbia University, and María Vélez, associate professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Maryland – two of the authors of the recent NASEM report, Reducing Racial Inequality in Crime and Justice: Science, Practice, and Policy. These experts will discuss research around the interconnected social conditions that give rise to inequalities in justice and crime and identify evidence-driven policies that can make our nation safer and more just.
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 11, 2023, 4:00-5:00 PM
