Hybrid Event: Jonathan Lax Memorial Award Lecture: PAVE-ing the Way for ART-Free Remission in Children Living with HIV – Jun 29
Posted by Philadelphia FIGHT on June 20, 2023
The Jonathan Lax Lecture was established 25 years ago to honor the memory of Jon Lax who was the President of FIGHT’s board when he died of AIDS in 1996. True to Jon’s values and priorities, the Lecture has brought some of the most prominent AIDS researchers in the world to the Wistar Institute to describe truly cutting edge work toward finding a cure for HIV. Lecturers are urged to aim their talks at a non-scientific, general audience and as a result these lectures are accessible to people living with HIV/AIDS without a scientific background, those who work in the field, and health professionals in the region.
Our speaker this year, Deborah Persaud MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She serves as the scientific chair of the HIV CURE Scientific Committee of the International Maternal, Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPACT) group. She has been widely recognized for the impact of her pediatric HIV treatment research. She is a Program Director of the PAVE (Pediatric Adolescent Virus Elimination) Martin Delaney Collaborative, whose work she will address in her talk.
Date: Thursday, June 29, 2023
Reception with light hors d’oeuvres and drinks begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by program and lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m. in The Wistar Institute Sarah and Matthew Caplan Auditorium, 3601 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
