Hybrid Event: Homelessness, Housing Markets, and Federal Policy – May 21
Posted by Bipartisan Policy Center on May 19, 2026
Homelessness has become one of the nation’s most pressing housing challenges. The increasing number of people experiencing homelessness in recent years reflects a confluence of factors—from high housing costs and the design of public assistance programs to mental health, addiction, and the strain on local shelter systems. Over the past two years, the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy has conducted research, consulted subject matter experts, and engaged local leaders in Chattanooga, Seattle, and Salt Lake City to better understand the drivers of homelessness, highlight best practices at the community level, and examine what the federal government can do to prevent—and ultimately end—homelessness.
Join the Bipartisan Policy Center for a conversation on “Homelessness, Housing Markets, and Federal Policy: Local Lessons and Policy Implications,” a new report drawing on recent research to offer actionable findings for tackling homelessness. The event will feature a presentation of the report’s key findings and a moderated panel discussion with leading voices working at the intersection of homelessness and housing policy.
