Hurricane Maria Relief Drive

On Sunday, November 12, 2017 Arcadia University student organization, Melanin In Action (M.I.A.) in conjunction with Barclays Bank will be hosting a Hurricane Maria Relief Drive, from 10am-4pm at the University’s Resident Parking Lot (Lot 12), located immediately to the right after turning off Church Road/Rt. 73. MIA has partnered with several Arcadia departments and student groups: Pan-African Studies Department, Gateway to Success/ Act 101 Program, Arcadia’s Black Alumni Association, Black Awareness Society, POWER and the Latino Association. Other advocacy and community programs such as the Black Male Development Symposium, the Young Democratic Socialist of America, Imhotep Charter High School and Wanners Transport and Delivery are also lending their support to this wonderful student led project.

The drive is being held to help deliver supplies and goods to the United States Island of Puerto Rico. The goods will be dispersed across the island by Unidos por Puerto Rico (United for Puerto Rico Organization.) United for Puerto Rico has been active in delivering goods to those hard to reach mountain locations on the island that have been devastated by the hurricane.

Items needed include baby wipes, diapers, bandages/gauze, batteries/flashlights, feminine products, personal hygiene items (toothpaste/toothbrush/ deodorant/soap/hand sanitizer), peanut butter, can openers, plastic/surgical gloves, first aid kits, non-perishable snacks and socks in original packaging. Clothing, water and perishable items will not be accepted.

If you cannot make the Sunday, November 12th drop-off you may leave your items at the following locations on campus:

Brubaker Hall 217
