Free Seminar on Working with Your Board: How to Make the Most of the Board-Staff Relationship
Philadelphia LawWorks, Pfizer, and DLA Piper LLP are co-sponsoring a free seminar on how to make the most out of the Board-staff relationship on October 18th from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
This seminar will focus on establishing a well functioning Board with a good understanding of its role in nonprofit governance, providing leadership, resources, and expertise to the management of the organization. Getting the Board-staff relationship right is one of the keys to an effective nonprofit organization, but it can be tricky. Presenters will discuss what the staff should do to help Board members serve effectively in their roles, steps to ensure the Board is fully engaged in the financial soundness of the nonprofit, and how to manage the Board and Board-staff relationship in a practical manner. Topics covered include the basic roles and responsibilities of Board and staff, financial reporting and responsibilities of Board and staff, and nonprofit governance.
The seminar is designed for executive directors, Board members, finance directors and other management that regularly works with the Board of Directors.
This seminar will take place at DLA Piper LLP, 1650 Market Street, Suite 4900 in Center City, Philadelphia. You must RSVP by October 13th at http://www.dlapiper.com/pfizer_seminar_oct2011/ to reserve your space. Lunch will be provided.
