How to Effectively Implement Project-Based Learning

HOW TO EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENT PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
OVERVIEW: Based on the Buck Institute for Education’s model for Gold Standard Project-Based Learning (PBL), this one-day PBL workshop models the 8 essentials processes for engaging participants in learning how to design, assess, and manage a rigorous, relevant, standards-focused project. Facilitated by PBL expert, Professor Lorraine Howard, the workshop is a balanced blend of direct instructions, video analysis, hands-on work, resources sharing, and peer collaboration. Participants will have after-workshop opportunities to plan their own project, and receive formative feedback from peers and the facilitator.
Who Should Attend: K -12 Educators, Instructional Coaches and Principals.
(Subject-Area Teams are encouraged to attend and work collaboratively)
Special Note: This workshop is limited to 25 participants; so register early.

When: Thursday, July 28, 2016; 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Credit: Participants will receive 6 hours of ACT 48 Professional Development credits

About the Instructor: Professor Lorraine Howard is a National Faculty member of Wilkes University’s Graduate School of Education’s 21st Century Teaching and Learning and Instructional Coaching Divisions. She is a Certified Project-Based Learning Expert, Practitioner and Master Instructional Coach and National Educational Consultant with 20+ years of K-20, Blended, online and on-site classroom teaching and research experience. PA certified in the S.T.E.M. disciplines of mathematics and engineering, Lorraine currently works with schools throughout the country in designing and implementing a wide variety of project – based learning initiatives, integrating technology into their educational environment, and providing professional development training to pre- and in-service teachers in effectively implementing the Common Core Standards.
