Welcoming Center issues report on immigrants and mobile technology
Immigrants in the region have rapidly adopted mobile technology and are using it in innovative ways, according to a new report from the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians.
The report is based on a first-of-its-kind survey conducted by the Welcoming Center this summer.
Key findings include that immigrant respondents were three times as likely to have participated in video chat as US smart phone owners overall (44% to 13%). Immigrants are more likely than US cell phone owners overall to have made a purchase using their mobile phones (35% to 20%). Immigrant entrepreneurs are capitalizing on mobile technology to launch and sustain their businesses, and immigrants are investing in smart phones and unlimited calling plans.
