United Communities has an immediate opening for an experienced Housing Counselor. The position is part-time, approximately 19 hours per week, and offers a flexible work schedule. Duties include: Outreach to potential foreclosure homeowners and first time buyer individuals; providing housing counseling workshops and registering clients for housing workshops; providing counseling assistance and education in all aspects of housing counseling, including but not limited to: pre-purchase counseling, post-purchase counseling, credit counseling, home inspection, review delinquency and foreclosure counseling, tenant counseling, rental default counseling and anti-predatory lending counseling (pre and post loan). Qualified candidates should have a Bachelors degree in Human Services, business or a related field of study OR at least two years of experience in real estate, lending or related area; Two years experience in housing counseling or family counseling; strong interpersonal skills; strong written and cognitive skills; and the ability to address large groups. Must be self-motivated with a strong commitment to aiding families and individuals towards self-sufficiency. Certification by the Homeownership Counseling and Foreclosure Prevention/Intervention Counseling is required within six months of hiring. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred but not necessary.
