Housing Counselor

Center in the Park is seeking a full-time Housing Counselor to provide housing counseling services including foreclosure diversion, default and delinquency, HEMAP, tenant counseling, and housing consumer education. The Housing Counselor provides direct service to clients requiring housing counseling/relocation, mortgage default and delinquency counseling, foreclosure diversion, assistance accessing subsidized housing, information and referral, and housing consumer education. The Housing Counselor is also responsible for facilitating housing workshops. Position involves local travel and home visits.

Vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance required.

Knowledge/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field.
Knowledge of casework process and practice.
Two years with housing services preferred.
Experience with aging preferred.
Familiarity with other human service systems preferred.

Skills Required:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Effective problem identification and problem resolution skills.
Good organizational skills required to efficiently manage paperwork.
Proficient in Microsoft software applications
Effective listening skills.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, which are based on trust, empathy and a respectful rapport.
