Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Inc., a dynamic nonprofit, is currently seeking a part-time Hotline Advocate to work within its Health Promotion and Wellness division. This part-time position is responsible for providing domestic violence counseling, crisis intervention, and advocacy via the program’s 24 hour hotline and Congreso’s main office. The Hotline Advocate works under the direct supervision of the Counseling Coordinator. In the absence of the Counseling Coordinator, the position is supervised by the Department Director.

Essential Responsibilities
 Provide telephone crisis intervention, counseling, and advocacy services through the Latina
Domestic Violence Program (LDVP) hotline
 Assist the counseling coordinator with the maintenance of hotline coverage during lunch shifts or any other time the hotline advocate is away from the hotline
 Participate in the Philadelphia Hotline Collaboration monthly meetings as a representative of LDVP
 Conduct assessments and crisis intervention of client walk-ins
 Conduct an initial client intake, which includes needs assessment, and resources needed
 Maintain accurate and up to date client file and documentation
 Conduct client follow-up as specified in the individual client service plan, and as needed by client
 Comply with all client confidentiality regulation as specified by agency, funding source, local, state and federal regulations
 Submit monthly and quarterly programmatic narrative and statistical reports to the Women’s
Wellness Manager
 Regularly attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, case reviews, etc.
 Comply with essential staff policy during weather related closures
 Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field; or suitable combination of education and two or three years of direct counseling experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
 1 to 3 years of work experience in domestic violence counseling and advocacy
 An understanding of the culture and Latino community in Philadelphia
 Familiarity with domestic violence issues and dynamics related to the Latino community
 Knowledge of the impact of trauma on children and families
 Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish

Certification/License: Completion of the Domestic Violence 40 hour training certificate provided from an approved PCADV training program. May be completed post hire.
