Submit an application to host a MPH Fieldwork student
Interested in hosting a graduate MPH student intern from UPENN?
Thank you for your continued partnership with the Penn Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI) and the Master of Public Health Program.
Many of you have already welcomed our students for their 125 hours of required fieldwork and enriched their education. This is an incredibly important part of their training – we couldn’t do it without you.
We are accepting site placements on an ongoing basis and would like to welcome you to submit an application to host a fieldwork student. If you have submitted in the past and would like to continue as a fieldwork site, please let us know and/or resubmit a new application if the position has changed.
Our fieldwork requirements have changed slightly with a greater emphasis on external community-engaged work. Please see our updated FAQ which outlines the requirements for students.
Information about MPH Fieldwork
We have a diverse group of students looking for hands-on experience learning practical skills and competencies to help them succeed when they graduate. Throughout their time getting a MPH, they will be mastering skills on communications/informatics; diversity and culture; leadership; program planning; systems thinking, research and more. We welcome opportunities from a variety of disciplines across the public health and social service arena.
Students are required to complete 125 hours of fieldwork. If you are interested in hosting a student, your organization is required to identify a preceptor to mentor and guide the student’s progress. We always recommend our students meet with a few different organizations so that they can ensure that it is a good fit for both the student and the organization.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out this online application (link below) OR send a brief write-up of your internship/fieldwork opportunity along with the best method of contact. Please feel free to reach out with any specific questions or concerns.
