Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service Book Nook Opportunity
Partner with Read by 4th to welcome families into your place of business. This Martin Luther King Day (January 16th, 2017), Read by 4th will be creating and distributing 250 book nooks to be given for free to local businesses. Each Book Nook will include a small bookshelf stocked with over 70 new, high-interest books for children ages 0-8. Apply to be considered as a potential site for a book nook.
A little about Read by 4th
Did you know that in Philadelphia, just 40% of children enter the 4th grade able to read at grade level? Read by 4th is a citywide coalition, led by the Free Library of Philadelphia, that is dedicated to changing this. Our ever-growing network of partners includes schools, community organizations, faith leaders, researchers, pediatricians, small business owners—virtually anyone who cares about, and can connect with, children and their families.
Who’s eligible?
Eligible businesses include barbershops, hair salons, laundromats, and more – anywhere that families visit regularly, with a waiting area with space for families to enjoy reading together.
