Horizon House Education Plus program, funded by Pew Charitable Trusts, offers supports to adults with mental illness to help them complete a certification or
degree program of their choice leading to a skilled job.
Suports provided include individual counseling around academic and personal issues that affect college life. Students also receive study skills support, peer support, and assistance around campus life. There is no charge for services.
To be eligible, an individual must be a resident of Philadelphia with a documented mental illness. They must be 18 or older, have been accepted into an
Associate or Certificate program with whatever financial aid they need, and have passed all placement exams. If they are in recovery from substance abuse, they must have been clean and sober for at least 1 year.
