TRACK 1 – RULES & REGULATIONS
RESPA 2010. What do HUD’s new Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) regulations mean for housing counselors? HUD’s new RESPA regulations took effect on January 1, 2010. Make sure you understand the details of the new HUD 1 Settlement forms and the Good Faith Estimate.
TRACK 2 – MANAGEMENT
Managing a Counseling Agency or Program 101: What do I do when…? Join our panel of veteran counseling managers as they discuss managing day-to-day operations, program and demands, staff and clients, as well as best practices. This workshop is designed to answer questions for new and experienced housing managers and supervisors.
TRACK 3 – BEST PRACTICES
Ethically and Practically Speaking: Protocols for working with clients. This workshop will cover key issues relevant to housing counselors including: ensuring confidentiality, the “unlawful practice of law”, contract compliance, and representing your client professionally, not emotionally.

Workshop Sessions
TRACK 1 – RULES & REGULATIONS
Compliance with National Industry Foreclosure Counseling Standards. The National Industry Foreclosure Counseling Standards are a set of training and performance benchmarks designed to provide guidance to those organizations and counselors providing foreclosure counseling services to consumers, which HCA has endorsed. Panelist will discuss these standards and implications of the SAFE-ACT. These standards are an integral component of the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling and National Industry Code of Ethics and Conduct .
TRACK 2 – MANAGEMENT
Managing A Counseling Agency or Program 201: Supervision & Accountability. This workshop will focus on how to manage other housing counselors with a focus on helping them prioritize, overseeing of due diligence, and follow-through, and ensuring that clients are getting full service from their counselors.
TRACK 3 – BEST PRACTICES
Professional Development: Positive Impressions. Do you know the importance of image to your success? Learn how your professional image influences your performance and the way others respond to you.
