Homeless Children in Philadelphia
People’s Emergency Center has authored a report titled ?Homeless Children in Philadelphia: Promising Approaches and Recommendations.? Although very little data are available about the 1,000 or so children who sleep in city shelters every night, we do know that they face significant challenges. The report includes a needs statement, followed by a description of currently existing ?promising approaches? to caring for these children, and it concludes with a list of recommendations to improve the well-being of these children and suggestions for implementing them. The ultimate goal is to break the cycle of homelessness from one generation to the next. For a copy of the report, please log on to http://www.pec-cares.org and click on ?What?s New.?
