HHS funds HIV services for women partners of inmates, ex-offenders

The program will establish a gender-specific, peer led HIV prevention education project for women intimate partners of incarcerated and recently released males. Nonprofit community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, national organizations, colleges and universities, clinics and hospitals, research institutions, state and local government agencies, tribal government agencies and tribal/urban Indian organizations are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be located near correctional facilities and incarcerated populations in areas with high HIV prevalence among women; and have a documented history of serving African American women, Hispanic women, substance abusing women, formerly incarcerated women, and women living with HIV/AIDS or whose lifestyles place them at high risk for HIV/STD infection.
