HiSet Instructor (Part-Time), OIC

Philadelphia OIC has an opening for a High School Equivalency Instructor at our Broad Street location. The HiSet Instructor will work to provide direct instruction to adult learners preparing for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSet). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching HiSet Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science to eligible program participants. The position requires a rolling 10-week commitment, 12 hours per week per course.
Primary Job Functions:
- Provide subject-specific training in Language, Social Studies, Science, or Mathematics to diverse adult learners with varying academic levels through a combination of computer-based and paper-based instruction
- Utilize Philadelphia OIC HiSet curriculum outline to create lesson plans and assignments
- Create formal and in-formal assessments to evaluate students’ preparedness for HiSet subject area examinations
- Develop strategies to encourage students to register and take HiSet subject area examinations
- Manage student attendance records and performance on the official HiSet practice test and HiSet subject area examination
- Participate in three-hour new teacher training workshop
Primary Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering and Math), English, or closely related field, with at least 2 years of relevant teaching experience
- Proven ability to maintain an orderly classroom environment
- Demonstrated expertise in subject area
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must be able to pass Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, and PA Criminal Background Check
