The Public Health Nurse performs outreach, direct and supervisory health care services to individuals, families and communities in the program’s targeted area of Philadelphia. The PHN initiates, coordinates, provides and evaluates health promotions, health education and disease prevention modalities related to the program. The PHN collaborates with other health care, social service, other agencies and student interns to function as role model, advocate, and liaison with community members and staff. The PHN supervises program volunteers, including nursing student interns, contributes to the development and evaluation of program services and further development of Congreso’s Health Intervention Program.
Minimum Education:
Graduation from a state-approved school of nursing with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish relationships and work effectively with diverse populations, professionals, and community groups.
- Advance skills in assessing, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating individual and group health education, health promotion and disease prevention services.
- Advocate for client and community strengths and needs
- Strong organizational skills that will promote data collection, report development, evaluation of services, and promotion of Congreso in the community.
Certification/License:
RN license, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
