Workshop focuses on helping transgender youth
The Behavioral Health Training and Education Network will present Helping and Supporting Transgender Youth: Basic Information & Skills on Tuesday, November 1st from 9am to 3:15pm.
The workshop is an overview of transgender and transsexual identity development, focusing on understanding the diversity of gender identities and expressions impacting gender nonconforming children and youth. Additionally, the role of family members and service providers who advocate for their care will be discussed. This workshop frames transgender emergence as a normative process of identity development and includes a discussion of the Standards of Care for ethical treatment of transgender people developed by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
The training location is 520 North Delaware Avenue, Suite 7C, in Philadelphia. The fee is $25 per person.
