GPUAC’s Season of Help and Hope Begins with 1,000 Turkeys
‘Tis the season to share. With a tightening economy and the holiday season fast approaching, the needs of low-income families in Philadelphia are pressing.
Last year, GPUAC provided 850 families with turkeys and food baskets at our annual A Season of Help and Hope Begins Thanksgiving Basket Program. Now in its 24th year, GPUAC has set a new annual goal of reaching out to 1,000 families.
While GPUAC provides the turkeys, the groceries are donated through the generosity of Brown’s Family ShopRite markets, led by GPUAC Board member, Paul Brauer, Vice President of Operations, HR and Community Affairs. Community partners from across the city identify and distribute the turkeys to families in need.
Want to give of your time? GPUAC is seeking volunteers to stuff baskets on Saturday, November 22nd, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm at the Brown’s Family ShopRite on 21st Street and Oregon Avenue. The baskets will be distributed to community groups at an event on Monday, November 24th, 9:00 a.m. to noon. Contact Bonnie Morgan at bmorgan@gpuac.org or 215-851-1966 for more information.
