AmeriCorps*NCCC Seeks Housing in Philadelphia
Two nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia have applied for the assistance of AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) teams, starting January 18, 2005. Each organization has requested its own team (a team consists of 9-10 members), bringing the total request to about 20 members. However, organizations cannot receive teams unless they find a place to lodge the teams during their stay, and so far these organizations have not been successful. NCCC will be awarding January teams in the first week of November, so time is running out!
If you know of any facility in Philadelphia or the greater vicinity which may be able to house the NCCC members, please let me know as soon as possible. NCCC?s minimum housing requirements are simple: two large sleeping rooms to separate the men and women, a full kitchen, and at least one full bathroom. Even if a housing provider can handle only one of the two teams, we?re still interested. NCCC teams are commonly housed in: college dormitories, convents, rectories, park cabins, summer camp dormitories, hostels, recreation centers, community centers, church basements and vacant (large) apartments.
For more information about NCCC, please go to http://www.americorps.org/nccc. I look forward to hearing from anyone with suggestions; my contact information is below. Thank you for helping this powerful National Service resource come to Philadelphia this winter.
