Hearings on High Stakes Testing

State to hold hearings on new graduation testing
Pennsylvania Board of Education hearings on the proposed graduation tests are scheduled for King of Prussia on July 27 and Pittsburgh on August 1. More information on the hearings is available here.
The hearings will gather public comment on draft regulations to create new ?high stakes? graduation tests in multiple subjects. Students would be required to pass the tests in order to graduate. Advocates are concerned that the current proposals are vague and do not yet address issues such as accommodations, student supports, a right to remediation, and funding equity. The draft regulations are not expected to be released until September.
The Education Law Center has issued an analysis of the state plans that is available by emailing Baruch Kintisch at bkintisch@elc-pa.org or calling 215-238-6970, ext. 320,
