CIGNA Foundation Announces Showcase School Program with Healthy Kids Challenge
Deadline: May 27, 2005
Employee benefits company CIGNA and Healthy Kids Challenge (<a href="http://www.healthykidschallenge.com/">http://www.healthykidschallenge.com/</a>), a nonprofit organization that assists schools, programs, and communities in creating healthy eating and physical activity opportunities for children, have partnered in an effort to help fight childhood obesity.
The CIGNA Foundation is offering a grant opportunity for a select handful of schools in six cities (Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Richmond) to take the Healthy Kids Challenge.
Schools in the eligible cities can apply for the grant, which provides educational materials and technical support beginning in the 2005-06 school year. The two-year grant will provide tools, guidance, and ongoing support to help schools develop a school wellness policy and create a healthier school environment.
To apply for a Showcase School Program grant opportunity, a school must be located in one of the cities or identified counties within that metropolitan area. All public and private elementary schools with a minimum enrollment of one hundred students and located in any of these areas are welcome to apply.
Complete program information, application forms, and guidelines are available at the Healthy Kids Challenge Web site.
