Waste Not, Want Not: Exploring Our Food Choices
Save the date for a joyful day of learning, food, and Jewish culture! Hazon Philadelphia’s 4th Annual Food Festival will be held at the historic Congregation Rodeph Shalom in Center City Philadelphia this year. The Food Fest is welcoming and inclusive to people of all ages, levels of experience with food and cooking, and religious denominations and affiliations.
This year’s event will include a flexible morning, featuring a vibrant Community Market and various learning and community-building opportunities. All parts of the day will connect to the concept of Baal Tashchit, or minimizing food waste.
Lunch is not provided in the ticket price this year. Bring your own lunch or buy a $5 meal voucher to purchase a meal from different vendors from our Community Marketplace.
A thoughtful Keynote Conversation will be held after lunchtime, kicking off an afternoon filled with workshops. The second portion of the day will include over twenty workshop options to choose from, featuring different elements of food, cooking, Jewish life, social justice, sustainability, and community. The Festival will close with a lively klezmer dance party led by the West Philadelphia Orchestra.
Check out the Children’s book selection that the Philadelphia Free Library has put together for this event.
