Growing to Greatness report on State of Service-Learning
Posted by on June 26, 2004
I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that the Growing to Greatness 2004 report is currently available as a free PDF download from http://nylc.org. The 96-page publication is the first report from Growing to Greatness: The State of Service-Learning Project, our comprehensive national study of the state of service-learning. Sponsored by State Farm Insurance, G2G documents the unfolding story of service-learning, providing useful information to improve implementation, inform public policy, and give a clear picture of the many ways young people contribute to society.
Growing to Greatness 2004 provides 18 state synopses of service-learning history, profiles of national organizations, and easy-to-read charts and graphs that build the case for service-learning. It is a critical publication for school administrators, graduate students of education or public policy, and anyone involved in “making the case” for service-learning.
The report includes contributions from widely recognized educational researchers and authors, including Larry Bailis; Robert Bhaerman; Shelley H. Billig; Nelda Brown; Rich Cairn; Amy B. Cohen; Alan Melchior; Elson Nash; Marybeth Neal; Jennifer Piscatelli; Eugene C. Roehlkepartain; Peter C. Scales; Thomas Shields; and Kimberly Spring.
