Growing Space Manager and Educator, Food Moxie
Posted by Food Moxie on May 9, 2023
Background: Food Moxie works with three community Partners, Stenton Family Manor (Stenton), Saul Agricultural High School (Saul) and Martin Luther King High School (MLK), in addition to serving NW Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Food Moxie provides skills, tools and resources for people to grow, cook and eat fresh, culturally relevant, nutritionally dense food. We work with youth and adults with the goal to not only increase knowledge but to empower people to make positive choices regarding their health and nutrition and increase leadership opportunities for youth through agriculture.
The Growing Space Manager and Educator will manage two connected growing spaces (approximately 1 acre total) in East Germantown, located in the backyards of MLK and Stenton. The two spaces also share a greenhouse and a refrigerated trailer. The Growing Space Manager and Educator will work with staff and volunteers onsite to create educational growing classrooms as well as production growing. They will be part of program planning and execution as it relates to incorporating the growing space into programming. Although they are responsible for managing the two sites, they will work collaboratively with staff across all three program sites to receive and provide input and support as needed for successful programming, projects and growing spaces.
