Job Description
Group Leader, Interfaith Youth Program
The Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia is seeking a Group Leader for Walking the Walk, an innovative interfaith youth service-learning initiative that brings together groups of high school youth from congregations of different religious and cultural traditions. Groups meet twice each month for dialogue, service, and reflection. Location of congregations and service site: suburbs just north of Philadelphia
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate all group sessions (13 sessions from October 2010 – May 2011), usually held on Sunday afternoons.
• Coordinate the community service component of the program.
• Regular e-mail and phone communication with Interfaith Center staff.
• Engage and maintain regular communication with the students, mentors, parents and religious leaders of each partner congregation (three to six congregations per group).
• Participate in Interfaith Center trainings for Group Leaders, Mentors and Student Group Leaders, and special events such as a meeting with a funder, a holiday event to which one of your congregations has invited your entire network.
• Documentation and reporting.
Qualifications:
• Community-building and group facilitation experience with high school age youth
• Flexible and creative: diligent and organized
• Commitment to the mission and goals of the Interfaith Center
• Values own faith identity and respects diversity
• Basic computer skills and comfort with the internet

• Compensation is $5,000 for the ten month program (average of 10 hours/week). Note that the intensity and hours per week varies.

• All group leaders are required to submit a PA Child Abuse Report, PA Criminal Background Check, and FBI Background Check, no more than one year old, upon 30 days of hire. The Interfaith Center will cover these fees.
